Minute Meditation on the “Existential Vacuum” (Its Religious Meaning)

The Hole Within, the Inner Void

The existential vacuum is
an outside without an inside,
form without content,
the external without the internal,
appearance without reality,
matter without substance,
surface without depth
and means without meaning.
The existential vacuum is
grasping, without containing;
making a living, without making a life;
being in the light, while experiencing inner darkness;
being full, while feeling empty;
and having “everything,” while possessing nothing.
The existential vacuum is
“vanity of vanities,”
a hole in the soul,
a sense of futility,
a “chasing after the wind,”
an abyss in the heart,
an unbridgeable chasm
and an absence of meaning,
which makes life worthwhile.
